Papaya Okoy is probably one of my favourite Filipino dishes. Deep-fried dishes that is. This recipe is super special because it is my mom’s recipe and it never fails to satisfy.

Who can ever resist this crispy, fried to perfection goodness? Give it a try and I’m sure you’ll come asking for more.

  • In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients except for the cooking oil. Set it aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat enough cooking oil to deep fry the fritters.
  • Once the oil is hot, grad a handful of the papaya mixture and place in the pan. Slightly press down on the fritter using a spatula. Fry each side of the fritter for a minute or until it turns golden brown. Don't let it burn. Repeat this process until you've used all the papaya mixture.
  • Serve in a platter with vinegar dipping sauce. Enjoy!


Squeeze out juice from the papaya before mixing with the other ingredients.
